FAQs

Is Pawsitively insured and bonded?

Yes! Pawsitively is insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas and is a member of Pet Sitters International. You can have peace of mind knowing that someone you trust is caring for your pet while you’re away, so all you have to think about is being greeted by a happy face and wagging tail when you return.

Will my pet and I get to meet you first?

Absolutely.  We want to be sure your pet and you are comfortable with us, and also that we know everything there is to know about their care.  A complimentary Meet & Greet is our initial introduction to each other and at this time a final decision should be made as to moving forward with our care of your pet while you’re away.  Please note that if a future Meet & Greet is necessary due to changes in household, pet care, or other details, there will be a small fee.

When do I give you the keys?

We usually take possession of two sets of keys to your home during your Meet & Greet. If you are unable to provide keys during your Meet & Greet, we can pick them up another time for a small fee, as long as it is prior to the first date of scheduled service. Keys cannot be picked up the same day as the first scheduled service. We require a minimum of two sets of keys to your home before we can begin service.

Why does Pawsitively need two sets of key?

A second set of keys is required both as an emergency backup plan, and because we use a team approach. Often there will be two team members assigned to the care of your pets, depending on the time frames that you need visits and upon team availability. Not to mention, emergencies can happen any time, and usually without warning (that’s what makes it an emergency!). If your sitter gets a flat tire before getting to your home for your pet’s scheduled visit, we don’t think your pet should have to wait for that emergency to be resolved. The second set of keys is there for just this type of situation. With the backup plan in place, another trained Pawsitively team member can pickup the backup key, and head right over to your home, and your pet gets their visit on time. Simply put, an emergency for your pet sitter should not constitute an emergency for you or your pet. Read more about our key policy below.

How do you manage the keys to my home?

Emergencies happen when we least expect them, right? That’s why Pawsitively has a backup plan in place. This provides an added layer of security and peace of mind that your pet will be cared for, no matter what. Both keys are coded with a unique identifier. Your keys are always locked in a safe at Pawsitively headquarters at all times when not in use, and keys are only signed out, using the key inventory manager in our Paws portal, when you have a scheduled visit. We keep your second key (or third key, depending how many team members are assigned to care for your pet) on hand for emergency use.

How do I schedule my services?

It’s so easy! Existing clients can schedule visits 24/7 online using our handy online scheduling portal. This lets you set-up your pet’s schedule exactly how you want it, specifying if a feeding or medications are needed, and a few other handy extra services. You can also add a payment option such as ACH (e-check) or credit card to your online profile. If you’re new to Pawsitively, we’ll need to schedule a Meet & Greet to get you all set up. Just give us a holler any time to get started!

Can you come at an exact time for my pet's visits?

Pawsitively will strive for consistency in every way when we come to see your pet. That being said, there are many factors involved in pet care that prevent us from being able to guarantee a set time to start or stop any service. We do have time blocks set up on our online portal, and you’ll see these time blocks when you set up your pet’s schedule. We can guarantee that we will be there for your pet within these time blocks.

What if I need to cancel?

It happens. We ask that you give as much notice as possible — at least 24 hours. Same-day cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee up to 60% of the value of the service scheduled for that day. Visits scheduled on holidays, or when holiday rates are in effect, are subject to a 5-day cancellation period.

What types of payment does Pawsitively accept?

We accept credit cards, debit cards, cash, or checks. Please make all checks payable to Pawsitively Professional Pet Services.

Will you take my dog to the dog park? She loves playing there, and is also good off her leash.

As dog owners, we fully understand the benefits and advantages these activities can have and we encourage you to continue them, but these situations can lead to variables that we may not be able to control and could put dog in a vulnerable position. For this reason, we will not provide off-leash walks or trips to the dog park. Your dog’s safety and comfort are our priority! We will provide plenty of one-on-one playtime, neighborhood sightseeing and an all-around tail-wagging time!

My pet needs medications, will you administer them?

Yes! As long as your pet doesn’t pose a threat to their sitter, we are happy to help you keep all medications on a schedule. We are experienced in giving medications orally and topically. If you need injections for your pet, please discuss this during your initial contact with us so we can discuss this in greater detail.

Will you pick up all the Doo-dy when you take my dog for a walk?

Absolutely! Pawsitively will always show top-notch professionalism while caring for your pets. So rest assured, your dog’s business is our business too!
